Roof Replacement in Mustang, OK
Steep-Slope Roof Replacement
Mustang, OK
Tear-off in progress, Mustang, OK. Decking exposed, crew staged with dump trailer on site.
A full tear-off on a nearly all steep-slope roof
This Mustang homeowner contacted McCann's Roofing and Construction for a complete roof replacement on a brick home with an extensive hip roofline. The crew removed the existing roofing material down to the decking, re-nailing any loose wood before dry-in and shingle installation.
The QuickMeasure report told the real story of this roof: of 39.98 total squares, 37.66 of them are steep slope. Add 170 linear feet of hips and this became a job that rewarded a crew comfortable working a cut-up, high-pitch layout section by section.

Measured for an exact material fit
McCann's orders a satellite QuickMeasure report on every project so materials are ordered to the exact dimensions of the roof, not a rough estimate. On this roof, nearly every square was steep slope, and hips outran ridges more than three to one.

Common questions
Questions about this project
What is GAF Timberline Natural Shadow?
Timberline Natural Shadow is GAF's lifetime dimensional shingle with a shadow band that gives it depth and a wood-shake look. It carries a lifetime limited warranty and qualifies for GAF's system warranties when installed with matching GAF accessories, as it was on this Mustang roof.
What color is GAF Charcoal?
Charcoal is a deep, cool gray-to-black shingle color with subtle dimensional blending. It reads crisp against warm brick and is one of the most widely installed GAF colors on Oklahoma homes.
Why is there no drip edge on this roof?
This home has metal fascia with a drip ledge built into it, which already performs the job drip edge would do, directing water off the roof edge and away from the fascia. Adding drip edge on top of it would have been redundant, so it was intentionally left out of the scope.
What does "steep slope" mean on a roof report?
Steep slope refers to roof area pitched steeply enough to require harnesses, slower installation, and more labor per square than a walkable roof. On this Mustang home, 37.66 of the 39.98 total squares were steep slope (nearly the entire roof) which is why the crew worked it in staged sections.
