Impact Resistant Roof Replacement
Edmond, OK
An impact resistant roof built for an Edmond stone and stucco home
This Edmond stone and stucco home features one of the steepest roof pitches commonly found on residential properties (a 12/12 slope) along with multiple roof sections, a masonry chimney, and complex flashing details. Replacing a roof with this level of complexity required careful staging, safety harnesses throughout the installation, and a custom-built chimney cricket to properly direct water away from the chimney. McCann's Roofing & Construction completed a full roof replacement using Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration Storm impact resistant shingles in Driftwood.
Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration Storm impact resistant shingles in Driftwood were selected for their hail resistance and the cool grey tone that suits the stone and stucco exterior. The job was documented by drone at each stage, showing the scale and complexity of the work across this heavily hipped, multi-pitch roofline.
Homeowner story
What brought this Edmond homeowner to McCann's
The Problem
The roof had reached the end of its service life on a home where the pitch and complexity of the roofline made contractor selection critical. A 12/12 pitch requires safety harnesses throughout and significant staging effort. The chimney also needed a cricket (a small saddle-shaped diversion built behind the chimney to direct water away from where it meets the roof) and a full reflash, both of which needed to be properly integrated with the new roofing system.
Our Recommendation
We recommended Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration Storm shingles in Driftwood. A cool, medium grey that works cleanly against the stone and stucco exterior and carries impact resistance that matters in Oklahoma's hail environment. We built and installed the chimney cricket as part of the scope to ensure the chimney-to-roof transition was properly protected before the new shingles went on.
The Result
The job was completed with a full crew working across all steep sections simultaneously. The chimney cricket was installed and flashed, all penetrations were sealed, and the homeowner received a complete impact resistant roofing system with McCann's 5-year workmanship guarantee.
